French Immersion Program
French Immersion Program
The French Immersion Program is an optional educational stream designed for students whose first language is typically not French. The program's central purpose is to produce graduates who are functionally bilingual while ensuring they achieve all the learning outcomes of the standard Alberta curriculum. This is achieved by using French as the primary language of instruction for a significant portion of the school day across several core subjects.
Students can earn a LCHS Bilingual Diploma indicating their successful completion of the French Immersion Program.
The criteria for this certificate is:
- 40 credits in French Immersion courses
- FLA 30-1 or FLA 30-2
- A 30-level French Immersion course other than FLA
