Medical Services & Sports Science Programs 10, 20, 30

Medical Services areas of study include homecare nursing, basic and advanced first aid, and sports medicine.  Emphasized areas include human anatomy and physiology, pathological conditions and current treatments.  The Medical Services program was started at Leduc Composite High School over thirty years ago by Mrs. Harriet Skagen, a trained occupational therapist.  Leduc Composite High School offers Medical Service courses at all high school levels.

Two pathways students can choose to follow are either the Medical Services or the Sports Science route.  Our program provides students with opportunities to explore careers in health care while gaining knowledge, practical skills and various certifications.

LCHS Medical Service program is a partner provider, where our program delivers St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid at the grade 10 level and Medical First Responder advanced first aid at the grade 12 level.   In the Sports Science pathway, students can earn their Sport Nutrition, Athletic Injury Management and Taping and Strapping certificates.

Medical Services is an excellent introduction to careers in health care or to further one’s understanding of health and wellness.
