General Music 10-20-30

The General Music program is a contemporary music class that focuses on guitar instruction, music history, and recording technology.

My name is Jeff McLellan, and I am really proud of the program that LCHS has helped me build over the past ten years.  My background in music is quite separate from the traditional Band and Choir style music instruction.  I spent my youth rehearsing in bands, recording original music, and playing shows in local clubs and theatres.  It is a real pleasure to offer my experience and expertise to students who want to learn an instrument within the traditional school setting.

Within the General Music class there is a lot of flexibility to explore different musical interests and instruments: drums, bass, piano, ukulele, etc.  The Grade 10 level is an introductory music class that focuses mostly on guitar instruction (that is my main instrument).  By the end of the 10 level class, I consistently have students that were complete beginners playing songs and having the skills to continue their music education.  There is an introduction to home recording techniques as well and electronic music production.  The 20 and 30 level branch out from here for the students that want to continue their musical journey with me.

If you are the type of student that loves music and has always had the desire to learn an instrument, this is the perfect fun class for you.

If you are the type of student that actually writes music and wants to start a band or perform, this is also the perfect class for you.

Let’s make some music together!
