Aboriginal Studies 10 (3 credits)

No prerequisite

Aboriginal Studies 10 provides students with an introductory understanding of the histories, cultures, traditions, and contemporary lives of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. The overall purpose is to introduce students to Indigenous perspectives and knowledge, fostering mutual understanding, respect, and informed appreciation of the vital role Indigenous Peoples play in Canada's past, present, and future.

Aboriginal Studies 20 (5 credits) 

Prerequisite: 50% in Aboriginal Studies 10

Aboriginal Studies 20 provides students with a foundational and comprehensive understanding of the histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. The overarching purpose is to foster mutual understanding, respect, and informed engagement by exploring Indigenous perspectives, knowledge, and issues.

Aboriginal Studies 30 (5 credits)

Prerequisite: 50% in Aboriginal Studies 20 

Aboriginal Studies 30 provides students with a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the histories, worldviews, cultures, and contemporary realities of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and globally. The overarching purpose is to promote reconciliation, respect, and informed understanding by presenting Indigenous perspectives and knowledge systems alongside historical and contemporary issues. It aims to prepare students to be informed and active participants in building a just society in a multicultural and decolonizing Canada.


Land Acknowledgement
